Created between March 26 to April 30, 2020, 127When is a ripening of
K-rAd’s (Christopher Grabowski) delicious modular synthesizer “patch performances”.

Being present is a focus of this new work; loose and extended, 127When pieces were deliberately left long and luscious. The consistent tempo and groove appeals to listeners who need to journey and to listeners who need to apply deep concentration, or stay in a zone.

Dystopian conditions and studio improvements herald a solenoid robot drummer along with long-time collaborator Mark Hardy and his sitar via file sharing. The SQ1 sequencer-to-Micromoog spawned another Micromoog resurrection as driving, mid-base ostinati are peppered throughout. Vintage field recording samples from equatorial Africa reminisce a shared musical past. 127When features 160 minutes of an overlain field recording from K-rAd’s Chicago rooftop, providing a subtle wash of the here and now.

Appreciative, innovative, and immersive, 127When invites you to rejoice, to savor, to put parsley on everything, and to somehow know when.
